Ulcerative Colitis is Inflammation
Ulcerative Colitis is inflammatory Bowel Disease which is located in the intestine, mostly in the large
intestine or Colon. Unlike Crohns which is ongoing, Ulcerative Colitis can come and go, at times no symptoms
are present.
This disease causes inflammation of the walls of the intestine. The inflammation is due to the immune
system thinking every microbe is bad and so it attacks everything in site.
Ulcerative Colitis has the symptoms of diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fatigue, and weight loss.

- fatigue
- weight loss
- loss of appetite
- rectal bleeding
- loss of body fluids and nutrients
- skin lesions
- joint pain
- growth failure (specifically in children)
There are many different types of "symptoms" when this disease is present to treatments vary depending on eh
symptoms.
Treatments of Ulcerative Colitis
- Drugs that coat the lining of the walls of the intestine are often prescribed.

- Immunological Drugs

Surgery For Ulcerative Colitis
The inflammation and sores can cause a lot of bleeding, infection, and other complications. if one of
these complications is threatening life, then surgery is may be required.
Stress and Anxiety and Ulcerative Colitis
Stress and Anxiety make the Ulcerative colitis symptoms worse and/or bring them about. There is no
evidence that emotions can cause Ulcerative Colitis, they just make them worse and exacerbate the symptoms.
